The rules of reactions
Through automated experiments and data-driven models, Robert J. Mayer aims to gain a better understanding of catalytic reactions. This will enable the rapid identification of optimal conditions for chemical syntheses, such as those used to create new molecules and pharmaceuticals or to investigate the origins of life. As professor of physical-organic Chemistry of Catalysis, he explores the principles that govern such reactions—and how they can be predicted using automated experimentation, computational chemistry, and data-driven models.
