For the youngest members of our TUM family, a new and inspiring phase of their lives begins, and President Thomas F. Hofmann warmly welcomes them to our university – with the first-years’ event “Welcome@TUM.”

The first-years’ event will take place on October 12, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. (admission starts at 02:00 p.m.) in the open air on the square facing the TUM School of Computation, Information and Technology (Boltzmannstr. 3) at Garching Campus. The campus is easily reachable by public transport via the U6 Garching Forschungszentrum and the event location is just a few steps away from the subway station.

Participation

First-year students will receive an invitation from the organizing team regarding the event. The number of participants on the event site is limited to 6,500 students. The first 1,000 students will receive a TUM cap as a gift (admission starts at 2:00 p.m.).

Program

The event will be held in English.

Admission start: 2:00 p.m.

Start of the event: 3:30 p.m.

President Thomas F. Hofmann will lead through the first-years’ event. The university management, the deans, as well as the student representatives and selected student initiatives will introduce themselves during the event. There will also be live music by the Munich band ,Capones' and beverages for the guests.
