Notes on the application

Please carefully read our general information on the online application before applying for a degree program at TUM.

Please submit your application as early as possible and upload all required documents completely and correctly by the application deadline. The application deadline is set according to TUM’s time zone (CET/CEST). Please avoid uploading documents in the final minutes of the application period. We assume no liability for local technical errors or connection issues that result in missing the application deadline.

You cannot edit personal data after creating a TUMonline account. Errors and typs are corrected once we review your documents. Learn more about modifying data in the online application here.

Please familiarize yourself well in advance with the documents required for your application. Prepare them in a timely manner and have them ready in advance. You can find detailed information about the various types of documents in the Glossary of Documents.

If anything is unclear, please contact us well in advance so that we can assist you before the application deadline.

The application documents will be uploaded to the online application. Once you submit your online application, uploaded documents may no longer be exchanged. When you have been admitted, you may need to upload additional authentic documents in order to be enrolled. Learn more about applying to TUM.

Please note that we can provide informational and technical support only during our regular business hours. If you miss the application deadline because you submitted your online application late, we cannot grant an extension. Inquiries regarding any uncertainties made before the deadline will not result in an extension.

Do you need a visa? Be sure to find out in advance!

Many international students at TUM require a visa to enter Germany for the purpose of studying. As soon as they arrive in Germany, they need a residence permit.

You do not have to wait to be admitted to start the visa process! Even before you receive your letter of admission, you can apply for a visa for the purpose of seeking a university place, and this visa can be converted into a residence permit for study purposes in Germany.

Make sure to inform yourself well in advance about the regulations for visas and residence permits, and contact the German embassy or a German consulate in your country as early as possible.

If you do need a visa, you can now plan your application free of charge using the VisaFlow app. Just use the code “TUM25”. Please note that VisaFlow is an external service provider. For technical or content-related questions, please contact the VisaFlow team directly.
